Google Cloudは開催中のイベント「Google I/O 2022」で、PostgreSQLフル互換の高性能な新データベースサービス「AlloyDB for PostgreSQL」のプレビューリリースを発表しました。

GoogleがPostgreSQL互換の新DBサービスAlloyDBを発表したそうです。

GoogleCloud版のAmazon Auroraという感じではないかと思います。

性能面で、トランザクション処理で最大4倍、アナリティカルなクエリで最大100倍高速

と謳っている部分がポイントかなと思うのですが、最大値なので、上記はアテにならないにしても大量のデータ処理は

Googleが比較的得意とする部分だと思いますので、差別化できるほどの性能が出せるかがポイントになりそうです。

また、スケールイン／スケールアウトはデータベースが稼働したまま動的に可能で、

パッチの適用やバックアップ、スケール操作やレプリケーションの判断は機械学習によって支援され、

自動化されるということですが、負荷に対してのオートスケールという点では、

普段DBの負荷はあまり高くない状態で、何かイベントをきっかけに負荷があがることがほとんどですので、

これを最適化できるようになれば、ゲームチェンジャーになる可能性がありそうです。
